Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’sdisease |
Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’sdisease are the two major conditions coming under the inflammatory bowel
disease. The inflammatory bowel disease is considered as an autoimmune disease,
where the immune system attacks itself rather than other infections. The useful
bacteria present in the lining of the intestine are attacked by the immune
system of the body causing inflammations in these regions. Though both the
diseases show inflammations, the location and symptoms are slightly different
in each case, some of them showing specific symptomatic conditions. The
ulcerative colitis is concentrated in the colon and parts of the rectum, while
Crohn’s disease can affect any part of the entire digestive system. The
symptoms of the ulcerative colitis may come and go based on the severity of the
inflammation, but the inflammation remains chronic. In case of severe
inflammations the disease symptoms may flare up. The Crohn’s disease is characterized
by the inflammations that affect a particular segment of the digestive system.
These bowel diseases also have certain symptoms like, abdominal pain, frequent
diarrhea, bleeding, loss of appetite, fatigue and finally weight loss. The
overactive immune system, genetic factors and environmental factors are
considered as the reason for both Crohn’s and colitis diseases.
To manage these two inflammatory
bowel disease, it is best to consider undertaking the Crohn’s and Colitis Program. The program has been initiated
by a group of skilled practitioners, surgeons and research faculty are present
in this program. The main aim of the Crohn’s and Colitis Program is to
provide specialty care through all means, for the patients affected by these
inflammatory bowel diseases. The group of experts from the program are able to
deliver a multi-disciplinary approach to overcome the challenges of the
disease. The experienced doctors and expert surgeons will analyze the patient
and implement new treatment methods developed with the help of researchers to
provide maximum care for the patient.
